Canadian Association of Black Insurance Professionals Announces Partnership with Wawanesa Insurance

The Canadian Association of Black Insurance Professionals (CABIP) is proud to announce our partnership with Wawanesa Insurance – a Canadian mutual company owned by its policyholders and one of the largest property and casualty insurers in Canada with a rich history dating back to 1896.

Through this sponsorship, Wawanesa Insurance aims to amplify CABIP’s important mission of advocating for representation, inclusion, and advancement of Black professionals within the Canadian insurance industry.

“Black insurance professionals make the Canadian insurance industry better, and we are grateful for the work of CABIP to advance opportunities, remove barriers, and help us all build a stronger workforce,” said Graham Haigh, Wawanesa’s SVP and COO for Western Canada, as well as Executive Mentor of the company’s BUILD Employee Resource Group (Black United in Leadership & Development), “We want every level of our workforce to reflect the diversity of the communities we serve, while being equitable and inclusive for everyone. This work goes hand-in-hand with who we are as a mutual company, and we’re proud to advance this work alongside CABIP.”

“CABIP is excited to be partnering with Wawanesa. From the moment that we began speaking with their team, we were convinced that they would be a great advocate for the advancement of Black insurance professionals in the insurance industry. Immediately, we began discussing the current landscape and plans to make tangible change for a new experience for Black insurance professionals and their allies. This partnership will definitely be fruitful and we look forward to a bright future with Wawanesa,” said Sheldon D. Williams, Chair and Co-Founder of CABIP.
