Membership Agreement

This is a binding agreement

  1. This Agreement relates to the provision of a paid membership (the “Membership”) to you by The Canadian Association of Black Insurance Professionals (the “CABIP”) in association with any third parties, as authorized by CABIP in its sole discretion. This Agreement will be presented to you for acceptance in the course of the membership process. Information provided by you to fulfill a membership is subject to CABIP’s Privacy Policy.
  2. By subscribing to the Membership, you acknowledge that you are bound by the terms of this Membership Agreement with CABIP and/or any third party, as authorized by CABIP in its sole discretion.
  3. Notwithstanding anything contained in this Agreement, you acknowledge that CABIP is at liberty to reject a request for a membership or the continuation of a membership at any time.

Payment of fees

  1. The fees for the Membership (plus any applicable taxes), accepted methods of payment and frequency of billings will be specified by CABIP and selected by you at the time of membership. All fees, unless noted otherwise, are in Canadian dollars (CAD).
  2. You acknowledge that the collection of fees and your payment information is to be processed by Stripe, Inc. and, also, you reaffirm your acknowledgement to CABIP’s payment policy, as stated in CABIP’s Website Terms of Use & Payment Policy.
  3. By subscribing to the Membership, you agree to pay the membership fees using the payment method chosen and billed/ charged at the frequency provided.
  4. Your membership will continue until cancelled by you. When you cancel your membership, there will be no refund for unused fees paid for the Membership to the end of the current paid-up billing cycle. Rather, you will continue to have access to the Membership until the expiry of your current billing cycle. In order to avoid charges for the next billing cycle, a request for cancellation must be sent to info@cabip.ca such that it is received ten business days before the commencement of the next billing cycle. Alternatively, you may cancel your membership through the membership management system Join It, by logging into the website online.
  5. You will be automatically billed for the Membership at the beginning of each billing cycle on or around the date that you first joined and, thereafter, at the commencement of the relevant periodic anniversary date of your membership to CABIP in accordance with the billing cycle selected at the time of membership.
  6. You are responsible for maintaining accurate billing and contact information.

Changes to service—made by you

  1. You may change the frequency of billing for the Membership in accordance with the notice provisions of this Membership Agreement. There are no refunds for cancellations requested to take effect prior to the completion of the paid-up billing cycle in which the request for cancellation is made.

Changes to service—made by CABIP

  1. CABIP will give you advance notice of any changes to the fee structure for the Membership by email and/ or publication on CABIP’s website. If you do not wish to accept the new fee structure, you may cancel your membership in accordance with the terms of this Membership Agreement.
  2. This Membership Agreement is to be read together with and to be consistent with CABIP’s Website Terms of Use & Payment Policy as well as CABIP’s Privacy Policy. This includes, but is not limited to, provisions relating to warranties, limitations of liability, indemnities and the method/ jurisdiction by which disputes are to be resolved.

Notifications

  1. Where a notice is to be provided under the Membership Agreement:
    1. In the case of a communication to be given by CABIP to you, CABIP may satisfy its obligation by, in its sole discretion:
      1. sending you an email to the most up-to-date email address provided by you to CABIP as indicated in your membership information; and/ or
      2. posting a notice of general application to all or a group of members on CABIP’s website.In either case, receipt of such notice shall take effect on the earlier of two business days of: (a) the email being sent by CABIP, and/or (b) the posting of the notice on CABIP’s website.Where the notification is provided by email, CABIP’s only obligation is to provide the notice to the email address noted on file by you – even if there is a bounce back indicating that that email address is no longer valid, or that you are away.
  2. In the case of a communication to be given by you to CABIP, you shall direct such communication to info@cabip.ca. Receipt of such communication shall take effect within ten business days of the receipt of the mail on CABIP’s server.
